If an auto body shop does not get paid for completed repairs, they are legally allowed to keep your vehicle. If there is a dispute, you will have to take it to court. Most body shops are willing to work out a deal or negotiation if someone is not able to pay. Make sure they discuss the cost of the repairs upfront.
