If your fingernail does not catch on the scratch it may be removed through wet sanding. This process may be completed within a couple of
hours. However, if your fingernail catches in the scratch, it will need to be repaired and repainted. This can greatly increase the time and money needed for the proper repair.

The scratch will need to be filled in with a body filler and have primer applied. The scratched panel, as well as surrounding panels, will need to be de-trimmed to be prepped for paint. This includes removing all moldings, mirrors, handles, interior trim panels, and weatherstripping. Expect 2-3 days for this type of repair, but there are many factors that could impact with the time needed.
